Virginia Nucci Artist Statement

A native Floridian, Virgina grew up in Orlando, spending her childhood drawing and painting whenever she could. During family vacations to the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas & the Florida Keys; she spent her days fishing and snorkeling off the local reefs. It is from these treasured memories, the spectacular turquoise waters of the Caribbean, fresh fish dinners and steel drum reggae music, that she fell in love with the ocean and the marinelife that dwells within it. Virginia uses those memories to create watercolor studies of saltwater fish and other marine life. Using pure sable brushes and the finest watercolor pigments, her paintings feature the vibrant colors and distinct colorful patterns that are representative of the various species. Inspired by the great works of John James Audubon, her watercolors are intense “studies” of marine life. “I believe the distinctive shapes, patterns and marvelous colors of these fish are artwork in of themselves”, she states. Virginia’s passion for painting continued through her fine art education at Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She now lives with her family in Jupiter, Florida where she is committed to a full time artist career. Her company, “Drawn Creations” was inspired by a family name and its interplay her artwork - as she has “drawn” her inspiration from the beautiful marinelife of the Caribbean.
